Travel Documents for India

Axiom Health can help you with the formalities of travel to India. The main requirement is that you need:

A valid passport (that will be valid for at least six months from your travel date)
A tourist visa for India

You must have a passport before applying for your visa; the visa application requires your passport number. You will also need to supply two passport photos with your visa application, as well as the application fee.

U.S. Citizens and American Residents

Get a visa application form from the Indian Embassy here. You may apply by mail or in person at one of the consular offices listed below. Note that you must pay by cashier’s check or money order. They do not accept checks or credit cards.

The current fee for a tourist visa for Americans is $150 (US dollars, subject to change without notice).

Normally applications received in person are processed same day if in before 12:30 pm. If applying by mail, the processing time is normally 5 working days from time of receipt. Processing times may be longer for non-citizens and foreign-born citizens.

Canadian Citizens and Residents of Canada

Get a visa application form from the Consulate General for India, Toronto. You may apply by mail or in person at one of the consular offices listed above. Note that you must pay by certified cheque or money order. They do not accept cheques or credit cards.

The current fee for a tourist visa for Canadians is $62 (Canadian dollars, subject to change without notice).

Visa processing times vary. The processing time is normally 3 working days. For naturalized Canadian citizens and Landed Immigrants, this could be longer.

If you are applying in person, you cannot send someone for you, unless it is an immediate family member, and they are applying also.
